Complementary and Alternative Medicine Resources*

This post contains some of the best resources I’ve found for complementary and alternative (CAM) cancer treatments, doctors and clinics. While I am not a doctor and cannot give you medical advice (please see disclaimer below), I have done a lot of research in my desire to heal cancer gently myself and want to make the best resources I’ve found available to others. However, you MUST do your own research. What works for me may not be the best thing for you. Only you can determine that, along with your own health support team of friends, family and medical practitioners.

I also do not advocate blindly jumping from your present course of traditional therapies to alternative medicine. But if you feel you want to do more, you might investigate some of the resources below. While I cannot vouch for the accuracy of any of the websites noted here, I personally found them to contain excellent information. And many of these resources contain an important central message: Do not give up hope, even if your cancer has advanced or metastasized.

[In fact, a remarkable new therapy known as German New Medicine does not even believe in metastasis; this therapy has a fascinating and plausible theory of why cancer shows up in another part of the body. See http://learninggnm.com/.]

Whether funds are limited or money is no object for you, you can start doing things immediately for yourself while you research adjuncts to your current program. For example, see Bill Henderson’s website at: http://www.beating-cancer-gently.com/.

Bill’s book, Cancer-Free: Your Guide to Gentle, Non-Toxic Healing, is one of the most uplifting, encouraging and informative of the hundreds or resources out there. The heart of his program is found on page 124. It’s a six-part program, four supplements and two diet-related. It’s simple and addresses the four characteristics of cancer: lack of oxygen uptake by the cells, excess acidity in the body, excess toxins, and a weak immune system. During the initial two-month or so therapeutic phase, cost is about $155 per month. Maintenance level after that is about $104 per month. (Costs and information in this paragraph are quoted from Bill’s book.)

Bill’s book is also filled with web addresses and phone numbers for every resource out there.

Entering the world of CAM can be scary, but don’t be afraid of the words “complementary and alternative.” They often refer to therapies that have not yet been approved in this country, but which are being done in other countries by MDs and hospitals, often in conjunction with contemporary western medicine. Europe (especially Germany) and Mexico (especially Tijuana) have numerous world-renowned clinics. Some of these places are highly controversial, so you must research them carefully. Some valuable resources I’ve found related to these are:

(1) German Cancer Clinics can be found at this website: http://www.germancancerclinics.com/Germancancerclinics.com/Welcome.html

Vera de Winter at veramedica@aol.com is a contact person for the German cancer clinics and can direct you to the clinic she feels will best meet your needs.

(2) Other worldwide clinics can be found at http://www.annieappleseedproject.org/gerclinstor.html. This website lists many of the Tijuana clinics as well as those in Germany and other countries. It also provides information about Global Billing Services, http://www.globalbillingservices.com, a Texas-based organization that may be able to help you get partial reimbursement from your insurance company for certain clinics outside the U.S. (for U.S. citizens only).

(3) Third Opinion, Fourth Edition, by John M. Fink, An International Resource Guide to Alternative Therapy Centers for Treating and Preventing Cancer, Arthritis, Diabetes, HIV/AIDS, MS, CFS, and Other Diseases. This is an outstanding compilation of information about clinics, treatments each offers, costs, logistics, whether covered by insurance, etc.
